out of the frying pan…

I had a meeting with Len this morning about my work this Summer. It was pretty productive and I’m really looking forward to getting back into things. However I am going to have a run-through of mrds ready for Monday, which is a bit daunting.

On more trivial matters, cool Escher-esque paintings and a way of having a webpage as your wallpaper in Mac OS X.

yay, exams are over!

Yay! I finished my exams. Now I have a million other things to do but yay! Next week I’m going to the Co-op Futures conference which looks pretty damned cool. Other than that I’ll be mostly reading statistics books to prepare for starting work at CREEM.

and now to revision…

I think I might have just finished my MT2005 project, it’s the most complicated LaTeX document I think I’ve ever made. Although as a plus I do know how to use BibTeX semi-properly. I did find out that the Food Standards Agency podcasts its board meetings which is pretty damned cool. Finally a cool video of Cassini-Huygens landing on titan.

break

I’ve just been to the beach with Ina and I now have more sand in my shoes than shoes…

arghh workworkwork

Lots to do, I just have enough time to post the quote of the day from yesterday and a joke, both come from the electronics lab:

Some talk about complicated electronics
Paul: Yeah, sure, Mr “I’ve got a degree in physics”
Other lab guy: Should that not be Dr “I’ve got a PhD in physics”
Paul:Crap

Why was the resistor sleeping rough? It had no ohm to go to.

Back to work…

link dump time!

Woo! Links…

A directory of free e-books, what’s special about this number? Geeky rapping from MC Plus+, cool Mac OSX menu items, including TinyAlarm. Finally from Prof. Leonhardt a paper about theoretical cloaking devices.

Finally, I finished my quantum mechanics notes.

reading…

It was this attempt [to revise quantum theory] that Nash would blame…for triggering his mental illness - calling his attempt to resolve the contradictions in quantum theory…”possibly overreaching and psychologically destabilizing.”
